That's undoubtedly true, and it's a clear example of where privacy needs to be defended. It doesn't change though that privacy remains a moving target rather than a fixed set of boundaries.

I think some people are curbed from being as open as they'd like to be online because they know that employers are trolling the web for info about them. Your personal boundaries and morality then become irrelevant, you're having to self-censor for others because your livelihood is at risk.

I took out life insurance with what colonial mutual in 1981. I subsequently paid my dues untill an employer scheme in 1994 took over the payments. It was understaoodnthatbshould I leave that employer I had 30'daysnto uptake my insurance as it was . I did this in 1997. To my horror the employer paid premiums for a lesser cover and I had a pig of a time reinstating my wage insurance.
The nurse was sent out and this objectionable form was required to be filled in despite my having been in a 10 yr relationship.
The upshot is that my insurance broker raised this issue at a national conference witht the head of the underwriting division. The then divisional manager of commsure claimed the form was not legitimate and he did not know it was being distributed. I had written a five page letter detailing the errors and discrimination experienced by the company.
I was assured in 1998 that these forms would be reviewed and removed from commsures due processes and procedures.
I find it fascinating to read that some 14 yrs latter they still have not removed these forms. Pack of wankers

It is all due to energy balance. Pain draws the life energy (which is needed to "deal" with the pain), and when you're out of it, the primal instincts kick in - anything that asks for you to spend any more energy is treated as an act of direct aggression against your very being. As the result, you just snap and respond with the most effective way of warding an "intruder" off - by attacking them.

Keep that in mind. If you can keep your "fuel tank" away from "empty", you should be fine. Find the thing or things that make you feel better (sure sign of restoring your "battery charge"), and take to it/them when you're starting to feel drained.

It is as simple as that.

I agree with you mate, I mean I will admit to making fun of the thinner guys myself from time to time and yes it was because in some way I was jealous but I try to refrain from that kind of behavior since it truly doesn't help anyone.

Also I'd like to bring in one little statement I heard on a favorite TV show of mine concerning the 'Sticks and Stones' saying. "Sticks and stones my break my bones but words will hurt forever" - they fail to realize the cuts and scars we receive mentally that never heal. I mean I wouldn't be such a mental case about my own weight had I not been teased as a kid and teen for it. But we work at it and try to make ourselves feel more comfortable in our own skin, and I thank the bear community very sincerely for helping me do this.

Wow, that's a lot of ignorance you're choosing to accuse me of being guilty of.

You've also completely missed my point.

If a flag is a symbol, then a symbol can be used by people both to make a positive point (e.g., waving it around and proclaiming their adherence to it) and to make a negative point (e.g., expressing dissatisfaction with the ideals perceived to be represented by the flag).

Conversely the people who burn the flag are just foolish, as you could easily say by your implied summary in your third paragraph. The protest used the flag in one way.

Thereby as you say, let us not get angry. Let us not get upset with foolish people who do such things, let us just see them as foolish people. Maybe make this a public point in response instead of immediately siding with them, or do you subscribe to always siding with foolishness.

Using fear as a 'classic' excuse to discourage a persons own feelings of such a complex construct is slightly naive and shows lack of depth to understanding of human history, identity, psyche and mentality of a nation.

Then you also to try an educate and raise awareness in how silly it might be to get upset with burning a flag. Yet by doing so you are both watering down the foolish people's reactionary objective you'd hope for people to understand and also divert the issue at hand.

What a contradiction. Grow up.
